Arzbach – High point for the Romans

Seite ausdrucken

This well-established holiday resort lies in the Westerwald, in the heavily-wooded Nassau wildlife park, about six kilometres above the health resort of Bad Ems. The old town hall, a half-timbered house built in 1710, and a collection of gravestones from the 16th century, are well-worth seeing. The nearby “Limes” footpath offers walking on particularly historical ground. Sections of the 2000 year-old Roman ramparts still remain. The reconstructed Stephansturm - situated on a 423-metre high basalt mountain peak – shows what a Roman watch tower actually looked like. Arzbach has a population of almost 2000, and offers, in the way of facilities for the visitor, a camp site, tennis-courts,  sports field,  large hall for meetings (Limeshalle), as well as a large range of gastronomic delights.
