Miellen – “Swiss” mountain romance
Miellen is right on the banks of the river Lahn and only about four kilometres from Bad Ems. The name of the village comes from the word “Mühle” (mill). Once there was a water mill on the lower brook in the so-called Schweitzertal (Swiss valley). Later six mills were built there altogether.
The Schweizertal is extremely popular with hikers and nature-lovers. With its rugged and romantic character, the valley offers a unique landscape. This is a starting point for fascinating tours into the hills of the Taunus region or for a trip to the impressive Ruppertsklamm (narrow gorge). Anglers and lovers of water sports will also find much to enjoy here. Thanks to its location, excursions from Miellen to nearby Lahnstein and Koblenz are also available – most enjoyable by bike of course.
